Friends of Fenny Stratford - Summer Update
New Members - Following Love Bletchley Day and Midsummer Madness the Friends of Fenny Stratford has a lot of new members. Welcome to you all. We encourage membership so if you haven't joined please do so. Our stall will be at the Poppers Festival on 18th August.
Fenny's Got Talent - Our friends at the Fenny Festival Community Group have organised this and it should give all a few fun nights out. The preliminary rounds are in the pubs and clubs. Mostly Saturday evenings at 7.30. Check the website for when and where. We understand the Irish Club are up first on the 13th and have a good selection of acts. MKFM the new radio station on DAB are heavily promoting this and will attend and will judge the final on the stage at the Poppers Festival (the winning act from each pub or club). Marshall Amplification are providing a good prize and the winners will appear on MKFM. Please make sure you go along and watch in your local pub or club (it is a good excuse to visit them all!)
Fenny Poppers Festival. The festival will be on 18th August and we need lots of volunteers to assist the Fenny Festival Community Group. Please put yourself forward if you can help during the day. If you a fit enough the day starts at the crack of dawn with road closures, the laying of turf and putting up stalls, less active roles are manning our stall during the day and helping with the rubbish management (moving bins and litter picking) or shaking a bucket at one of the entrances to the street. After the event the turf needs lifting and the street tidied ready for traffic. Some of this is hard work but it is all good fun and you will enjoy being involved. If you would like to play a role please make contact and do so but please be committed as covering for people who commit and do not turn up is often very difficult.
Fenny Feet - The blue route is very popular and the leaflet for the route can be downloaded by following the link from the homepage of this website. Plans are advancing for the red and green routes. If you would like to assist with the marking of these routes and the production of the leaflets top accompany them then please contact us using the contact us link.
Regular Walks - Recent walks have been well attended. The July walk will be a bit different by using the train to take us to the Marston Vale Country Park on 20th July. If you haven’t visited this park there are several walking and cycling routes of differing lengths and a nice café. Dogs can be taken on several of the routes. Full details are shown on the news pages.
The Community Plan - This has now been published and can be read by following the link on the home page of this website. There is a hard copy at the Council Offices and we hope to have hard copies in the library shortly.
Website - Our new webmaster Dan is doing a great job in keeping this website updated. Please visit this site or our Facebook pages often so we can keep you updated on events and news.
The Mortuary Chapel - Arrangements are being made with MK Cemeteries to open this for a day to allow people to look around. If you would like to know when please let us know via the ‘contact us’ link as this may be short notice.
Sycamore Avenue Noticeboard - This is now very regularly updated. If you have any community event you would like included please send us an email.
New T Shirts - Our new T shirts are now available at £10.00 each if you would like one.
Barbara Sullivan - Barbara is the new Regeneration Officer at the Town Council and we are pleased to welcome her as Secretary of Friends of Fenny Stratford. Jane her predecessor did a great job and we are sure Barbara will advance the flag forward.
General - Thank you to all who are playing an active role. We actively seek out ideas from local residents and businesses. Where these ideas can be established as having substantive support we will seek to see them come to fruition either through activity by the group itself or by encouraging the existing frameworks of provision to operate.
If you would like to provide assistance to the group by becoming a volunteer or aiding funding then please do so. Volunteers can give vastly differing amounts of time. You may want to devote time to a particular project, help on our stall at community events, help with writing text for and updating this website and our Facebook pages or assist in raising funds. Whatever role you see for yourself we welcome your involvement.
Thank you if you can help in any way, large or small.
