The Friends Of Fenny Stratford
Fenny Stratford Walks: - The aim is to create way-marked walks under the heading of ‘Fenny Feet’. Fenny Feet was an idea put by a local artist, Nick Packham who is based at the Tecton Gallery in Church Street: The route of the first circular walk has been agreed and we hope to publicise this in the near future. Alongside this project we have, to date, held 4 successful walks around the town. Please visit this web-site for details of future organised walks.
Town Map – The aim is to update the town map and display a copy in the noticeboard in Aylesbury Street near William Hill. The present map at this site is about 30 years old and it is interesting to note the changes. The Court in Simpson Road was still in use and the Register Office was in Queensway. Just outside Fenny the old Studio Cinema that was in Queensway, Bletchley is also shown. Further into the future the new map can be made into a fold up version for visitor use and general distribution.
The Cemetery Chapel – Three meetings have been held to investigate if this chapel could be restored and given a present day use that would cover ongoing maintenance costs. A number of ideas are being considered / investigated. If this interests you please visit this web-site for details of future meetings.
Information Stall – We have operated an information stall at the Love Bletchley Day in Queensway, Bletchley and at Midsummer Madness in Leon Recreation Ground, Fenny Stratford. The stall will be present at the Fenny Poppers Festival on 19th August in Aylesbury Street, Fenny Stratford and at the next Love Bletchley Day planned for September. Please come and see us at either or both events.
Other projects – More community events, increased town centre parking, changing damaged street name plates, support for youth activities and adult learning within Fenny Stratford were all highlighted by respondents to the questionnaire that has helped create the Action Plan. Each of these is achieving attention but if you can add support please do so.
General Public Meetings – We plan to hold a general meeting to update on all matters in September. We will post further details when confirmed.
Look out on this web-site or via the noticeboards in Aylesbury Street and Queensway for details of future meetings and on the town council website – www.bfstc.co.uk
